About Me

I am a newlywed, pursuing my PhD in Communications Media and Instructional Technology.  I have a BS.Ed. in Health and Physical Education (K-12 certified) and a MA in Adult Education and Communications Technology.  My blog is my way of sharing my weight loss journey and healthy lifestyle that I have be practicing.  Plus, I will add some yummy recipes!  I am now a Beachbody coach and want to help others pursue their fitness goals!  I will try to be motivating and provide any tips for those that would like to join me on this journey!

I have been overweight most of my life, but was active in sports until I graduated high school.  I was always self-conscious, hated shopping, and felt that I could never find cute clothes that would fit me right.  My husband loves to run, lift weights, and just be active.  During the summer of 2013, I started to workout, but got discouraged pretty quickly because I did not see immediate results.  I just thought that working our was not right for me and that I would have to be satisfied with being overweight for the rest of my life.  In June 2014, I decided that I needed to make a change.

I bought a Beachbody challenge pack, but I only tried the workout a few different times.  I was more interested in the Shakeology.  I fell in love with the shake and liked how I had more energy, decreased cravings for sweets and fatty foods, and just overall felt better.  I began running and walking to lose weight because I was getting married in a few months and wanted to look better.  From June until mid August, I had lost about 30 pounds, just by working out and replacing one meal a day with Shakeology.  I had hit a plateau, and wanted something to push me over so I could continue losing weight.

I began talking to my current Beachbody coach and we both confirmed that my eating habits were prohibiting me from losing more weight.  We looked at different Beachbody programs and concluded that the 21 Day Fix was the best option for me.  On September 17, 2014, I participated in a 21 Day Fix challenge/accountability group on Facebook with my coach as well as other challengers.  For those three weeks, I followed the 21 Day Fix eating and workout guide.  I had lost 13 pounds and 18 total inches in 21 days! I was ecstatic! Not only could I see a difference in my appearance, but also in the way I felt and how my clothes were fitting me.  I knew this was the program to help me reach my fitness goals.  I am still currently doing the 21 Day Fix workouts and following the meal plan, but will be switching up my workout to P90 from Beachbody for the new year.  My motto for the new year: A NEW YEAR, A NEW YOU!

I have decided to become a Beachbody Coach in December 2014 because I truly believe in the product.  It has helped me to lose over 60 pounds to date and I couldn't be happier.  I want to share my experience with others and help them reach their goals as well.
