MY Transformation - So Far!

I was hesitant about using myself for my Transformation Tuesday, but when I was comparing pictures of myself over the past year, I decided, why not? Since July, I have lost 60 pounds! That was when I started to drink Shakeology daily and workout regularly.  I know it isn't about the number of pounds lost, but more importantly how I feel. And I feel GREAT! I have so much more energy, I am able to do more physical activities, and I am enjoying feeling healthier.

I can't believe the difference in myself in less than a year.  Never would I have thought that I would be able to lose weight or keep it off.  It hasn't been easy, but it has definitely been worth the sweat.  I will continue with this journey until I am satisfied with my fitness level, and then I will just work to maintain it.  A few of the biggest reasons that I have been so successful is because of my Beachbody coach, the challenge groups that I participated in as a challenger (and now as a coach), and learning to eat properly.

I am signed up for my first 5k in a few weeks, and I am surprised at how much I am able to run.  Weighing what I weigh, running is still a little difficult, but it is getting so much easier.  It will take a lot more training before I am able to run a 5k without having to walk parts of it, but one day I WILL be able to do that!  I believe setting goals is what helps keep your motivated, and I have weekly and monthly goals that are constantly changing as my fitness level improves.

I used to only eat 2, maybe 3 times a day because I was trying to limit my calories.  What I should have been doing was eating 5-6 times a day, every 2-3 hours to help keep my metabolism revved.  I know this now, and that is what I try to do.  Eating less puts your body in starvation mode, which will make it want to hang on to everything it can when you feed it because it doesn't know when it will get food again.  Eating every 2-3 hours keeps you fuller longer and prevents your body from going into starvation mode.

Here is an example of what a typical day of eating is like for me:
Breakfast: Oatmeal with honey, cinnamon, and a diced apple
Snack: Greek yogurt, veggies
Lunch: Grilled chicken salad with light dressing
Snack: Shakeology with a banana, PB 2, and sometimes spinach
Dinner: Lean grilled meat (fish, chicken, venison, etc.), brown rice, veggies

Eating healthy is 80% of the battle.  Once you get your nutrition under control, the rest will happen naturally.  Do you have what it takes to be the best version of yourself?
